A new book promises that you can eat fast food and lose weight. One of my favorite cardiologists, Dr. Stephen Sinatra MD, has just published "The Fast Food Diet" subtitled Lose Weight and Feel Great Even if You're Too Busy to Eat Right. He has catalogued the healthiest food choices at each major fast food chain and most of them are our favorites right here in Liberal.
Twenty percent of American adults depend on fast food for their daily diet and contribute to our epidemic of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and other chronic illnesses by picking the wrong high fat, high calorie, high carb menu items every day. Now Dr. Sinatra shows us how to get the healthier choices in Sonic, KFC, Arby's, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Subway and of course McDonald's.
He also has a created a Six Week Fast Food Diet plan with menus based on eating out almost all meals in the classic fast food outlets. That is a major accomplishment in my view.
Another chapter gives advice on eating at the typical fast food court on your next shopping expedition. This could be just the information you need before that upcoming Thanksgiving shopping trip. There is also a chapter on fast food for the business traveller. Your kids also have a whole chapter - The Fast-Food Diet for Kids.
An easy read with a wealth of ideas for finding healthier food in your typical fast food spot. I know many of my patients eat the majority of their meals on the road and have health problems related to their food choices. This book is a must for anyone in this position.
